HEALTH & SAFETY

Maintaining the health and safety of the Dunham community is one of our highest priorities.

In addition to a detailed security plan, we have a unique partnership with Ochsner Medical that puts an athletic trainer and a full-time nurse on our staff. This partnership also provides access to leading health professionals who assist us in reviewing our health protocols and are available to provide care to families as needed.

Student Health Forms and Medical records

In compliance with current governemnt HIPPA laws, student medical records and medications are securely stored in the nurse's office. To help us provide the best standard of care possible, updated student health information must be on file for each student enrolled at The Dunham School.

All families must provide the following health information for each student enrolled:

School Nurse Consent Form

Prior to the start of each school year, parents will be contacted by their child's division office to complete the Student Medical Information and the School Nurse Consent Form electroncially through PowerSchool, our student information system.

Parents of students who take prescription medication during the school day will also need to submit the State of Louisiana Medication Order/Parental Consent Form. Because this form requires a doctor's signature, it cannot be filled out electronically. However, parents can download it here or on PowerSchool. Students who do not take prescription medicine at school, do not need to submit this form.

Please note that new students must submit their immunization records in addition to the required health information noted above.

Campus Safety and Security

Our goal is to remain one of the safest schools in the nation. Our saftey and security protocols include:

• A detailed crisis response plan
• Regular training, drill, and practice with local law-enformcement and private security professionals
• Two campus security resource officers
• Restricted access to classrooms and buildings
• A campus-wide AI camera system
• Remote lockdown capability
