Statement of Faith

As an interdemoninational Christian school, we approach faith from a perspective of unity and biblical truth as opposed to any particular church doctrine. Since its founding, The Dunham School’s statement of faith has been based upon the following seven biblical holdings:

  • We believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments in the original languages to be the inspired Word of God, the final authority for faith and life, inerrant and infallible. (Matthew 5:18;  II Timothy 3:16-17)
  • We believe in one Triune God, eternally existing in three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, co-eternal in being, co-identical in nature, and co-equal in power and glory. (Genesis 1:1; Matthew 3:16-17; 2 Corinthians 13:14)
  • We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ became man without ceasing to be God, having been conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin, Mary, in order that He might reveal God and redeem sinful men. (John 1:1-2, 14:18; Acts 4:10-12)
  • We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ accomplished our redemption through His death on the cross as our vicarious sacrifice and that our justification is made sure by his literal physical resurrection from the dead. (Romans 3:24-25; Hebrews 9:21-22)
  • We believe that salvation is the free gift of God brought to man by grace and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, whose precious blood was shed on Calvary for the forgiveness of our sins. (Ephesians 2:9-10; 2 Peter 1:18-19)
  • We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ ascended into heaven, is now exalted at the right hand of God’ and that He is coming again visibly and bodily. (Acts 1:9-11)
  • We believe in the bodily resurrection of all men; the saved to eternal life and the unsaved to judgment and everlasting punishment. (John 11:25-26; Revelation 20:11-15)
It’s almost like air–you breathe it in, and you breathe it out, and that’s the way faith exists here.

Our Honor Code

The Honor Code is the basis for all conduct policies and a primary building block of our school community. We believe that each student should have a strong sense of personal honor and integrity and that these character qualities will be vital assets throughout life.

I want to be a person who seeks God first, above pursuit of my personal gain or pleasure. I ask God to change my heart to be more like Jesus so I may live more fully for His honor and glory. Today, with God’s help, I commit to being honest, respectful of others and their property, cooperative with all school authorities and active in service to others. On my word of honor, I will strive to be an exemplary citizen of The Dunham School.
